Oggetto: Touring in Italy - Brindisi to Bari

Hi folks,

I am starting a tour around Europe on Friday, for which I already posted and got some hints. I'll be going from Brindisi to Bari on Sunday (05.08).

I prefer small windy roads rather than highways, especially the ones I have to pay for. So, which route would you suggest, the highway through Fasano and Monopoli, or the long way round - through Ostuni and Putignano. Is the highway paid? Is the other road nice?

Thanks!

Come on, guys, I can't believe it. In every other country when I ask the bikers community I get tons of responses and advices and you're not giving me even a single answer!

Why are you so reluctant to help me, maybe you don't like foreigners crossing your country?

Or maybe you don't speak English? If this is the case here is a automatic translation:

Traduzione automatica dall'inglese:

Hi Guy!
Maybe the people is at work and can't reply to you.

I'll try to help you: you have to pay for the highway through Fasano and Monopoli, but on the coast you can find a little road, very nice, through little cities, and you are near the sea.
The way through Ostuni and Putignano is not near the sea, but it is equally nice, the landscape is quite different but pleasant, the road is longer.

I hope that I helped you.
Maybe we'll meet one day, on Europe's roads! I like very much travelling with motorbike.
Where are you from?

Thanks for your help, supercazzola!

I'm from Bulgaria, if you ever decide to do some touring around call me, I'll give you all information that you need! We have beautiful seaside and mountains here but the roads are crappy.

This little road by the seaside is not marked on my map, can you help with some more directions how to find it because I guess all road signs will point to the highway. Thanks!

I'll propose to you a beautiful travel between Brindisi and Bari:
When you are in Brindisi, go to S.Vito, Carovigno, Ostuni and Fasano.
Before Fasano go to the sea and drive from Torre Canne, Savelletri, to Monopoli, on the sea, then you could drive to Castellana Grotte, very beautiful, Conversano and finally to Bari.
I think it's the best road to visit the coast and the country.
Be careful because the traffic in this period is very busy.
Good Journey, and enjoy Italy!

Thanks, mate, I appreciate your help.

If you have suggestions from the rest of my Italian trip (Pescara->Ancona->Venecia -> Austria(Villach)) please share with me. I have a route in mind but if there's something that's not obvious from the map please let me know. Thanks!

And have in mind that I'm with CB 500, not all of your KLE's favourite routes are OK for me icon_smile.gif

I have no particular suggestion, if you look at the map, in a detailed scale, you can find a lot of beauiful roads.
Do not forget to drive through the Alps, between Venice and Austria!

My best compliments for your travel.

OK, my route planning is almost done, I'm leaving tomorrow. I have just one final question.

About riding through the alps, the road splits in two options a little after Conegliano:

- The bigger (on the map) but longer road through Ponte n.Alpi, Pieve di Cad, Forni di Sopra etc. that looks to be going deeper in the Alps

- The shorter one through Sacile, Maniago, Tarmonti di Sopra

Which one would you suggest?

The first one, it is more interesting.
If you would have time enough, you should have a tour in the Dolomites, it is almost a duty if you drive in Trentino.

I suggest to you this road: Venezia, Padova, Bassano del Grappa, Asiago (a beautiful road puts to a wonderful highland), Folgaria, Pergine Valsugana: here you can visit Carezza lake, a nice blue lake between tre rocks, and Passo Rolle, where you can see the Pale di S.Martino; then drive to Canazei and after to Cortina d'Ampezzo, near here there is Misurina, after this you can drive to S.Candido, and you arrive near Austria.

These are the most interesting places in the Dolomites, Eastern Alps. Maybe you should stay 2 days in that land to visit all that I talked you about, it's simply wonderful, I think you will hardly have another chance to visit so pleasant lands.

Good Luck

PS When you return home, please tell me how your journey was!
On monday I am leaving too, I am going to Germany with my motorbike and some friends: we'll go to Nurburgring and Romantische Strasse.

Thanks for your continuous help, mate!

Undortunatly I won't be able to extend this trip with one more day so I won't be able to visit these places this time. But I'll definitely have another chance, I'm sure I'll come back again some time.

Have a nice trip to Germany and have fun! I was in Germany earlier this year with a Suzuki Bandit 1200. On these straight speed-limitless highways you can ride up to 1000km a day but they are boring anyway icon_smile.gif
